5 Tips to Prepare for the Summit
Quick Advice from Jon Gabriel of The Mind-Body Weight Loss Summit
As the 2015 Mind-Body Weight Loss Conference is about to being, I wanted to share with you a few simple tips to help you get the most of this experience.
Tip #1: Choose the Speakers that Resonate Most with You!
We have 27 different video classes in 12 days, so you’ll probably have to say “yes” to some and “no” to others. With that in mind, I’d suggest you make a list of the top classes you want to be sure to join based on the topics being presented and then block off those times on your calendar.
Tip #2: Recruit Your Friends and Family to Join You
This time of the year, most people are thinking about their health, and since learning and transformation are so much easier and more enjoyable when you have support, I’d encourage you to find someone who can join you on your journey.
Tip #3: Don’t Try Everything, Start with One Thing
During the summit, you’re going to get dozens of amazing ideas. Don’t try to implement everything all at once, start with one thing, and build from there. When success compounds, I call it a “positive spiral,” and it’s fun and easy to go from one success to another. So pick one thing, run with that, then take on the next challenge.
Tip #4: Keep an Open Mind
When it comes to weight loss, sometimes both the causes and the solutions are not obvious—they can be subtle, simple and seemingly unrelated. As you jump into this summit experience, I’d encourage you to keep an open mind to the fact that what you’ve done in the past has not necessarily been helpful, and what will actually work could be completely new and different.
Tip #5: Be Curious and Have Fun
When I weighed over 400lbs, nothing about health sounded fun to me. It was all very frustrating and complex. When I began to lose the weight, however, I realized that transforming your body and mind is an amazing, life-affirming process, and that’s how it should feel. As you watch, listen and learn during these sessions, be curious and enjoy the journey. If you’re smiling, you’re on the right track.
